Fast delivery, faster growth: Amazon Australia expected to generate $5.5 billion next financial year

👉 Background: Amazon is a dominant force in the e-commerce marketplace in over 50 countries, including of course, Australia. And after launching in Australia in 2017, Amazon's had its ups and downs.

👉 What happened: Now, according to investment bank Jarden, Amazon Australia is predicted to reach $5.5 billion in turnover next financial year. And it's a pretty big call because the 'Zon reported revenue of $2.6 billion in 2022.

👉 What else: With tighter spending conditions, Jarden reckons that consumers are looking to Amazon for price comparison, and convenience... and low cost.

What's the key learning?

💡With clear value propositions, Amazon has been able to rinse and repeat its business model in many many many countries all over the world.

💡When you know your strengths in one market, you can create a blueprint for success in other markets too. For Amazon, it's all about extensive product range, low prices, and fast delivery.

💡But global expansion doesn't always go to plan:

  • Starbucks had a plan for global caffeinated domination, but didn't quite land in Australia and they retreated.
  • Walmart entered Germany but failed, because German shoppers were skeptical of the quality of lower-priced goods.
